HERE’S TO YOUR HEALTH!
SEPTEMBER 10TH AT QUINCY
FARMERS MARKET
Health representatives from the community will host a
table at the Quincy Farmers market to answer
questions related to nutrition, provide prenatal resources, dental heath information
and also provide blood pressure checks. The
three agencies teaming up to offer this FREE resource are Quincy WIC
Nutrition Program, The Boston Family Van and Manet
Community Health. This table will be staffed from 12:30 pm to 4:30
pm.
Quincy Farmers’ Market now accepts SNAP EBT (formerly, Food Stamps) and offers
incentives for trading with EBT cards.
Quincy Farmers’ Market offers a great opportunity to shop
for local produce at its peak nutritional value. There is a huge difference in taste
when buying produce from local grower, rather than having my produce grown in
far a-way places.
There are some 14 different local vendors presently
serving Quincy and area consumers, please listing under the heading vendors.
This week: you will find the
most delicious apples you ever tasted at the market. My favorites are Paula Red, Ginger Gold,
and Honey Crisp. These varieties are only grown for farmers’ markets. Cortland and
Delicious will come later this month. Also melons are field
ripened and are ready to eat when you bring them home, just chill them before
serving. There are variety of melons - check them out. I like the sugar
baby water melon, because it is smaller in than regular water mellon and plenty
for smaller families. Potatoes are here in several varieties: Red, Yukon Gold, Green Mountain and more.
Come early this week, in case the wind picks up and farmers have to fold up their tents earlier.
See you at the Market!
